Project Details

RAK DG-01-OPP-MOC-0266 Post TAR Scope for DG-01 OPP (Civil, Structure, Mechanical, Piping and E&I Works)

RAK contracted for DG-01-OPP-MOC-0266 Post TAR Scope for DG-01 OPP
(Civil, Structure, Mechanical, Piping and E&I Works)

Objective:

  • Implement a MOC process to ensure safe and efficient modifications on the existing OPP system.
  • Improve safety and environmental compliance with ROO
  • Reduce downtime during execution to meet ROO TAR plan
  • Power distribution: Installation or upgrading of transformers, switchgear, and distribution panels.
  • Installation of new junction boxes and cable glands: Ensuring proper routing and connection for all field instruments.

Challenges Faced:

  •  Integrating New Systems with Existing Infrastructure: Integrating new systems with existing, old infrastructure often presented compatibility and space limitations.
  • Weather Conditions: Unpredictable high wind, sandstorm and rainy weather delaying activities
  • Logistical Constraints: Transporting heavy equipment to train areas while working alongside another contractor at the same location.
  • Tight Schedule: Minimizing downtime during the post-TAR phase to limit production losses, while still ensuring quality and safety.
  • Safety Risks: Working in a hazardous environment with flammable substances, such as trains, tanks, etc

Solution Implemented:

  •  Implemented a centralized coordination system between Zone-1-2-3, holding regular progress meetings to ensure that each team’s activities aligned with the overall project timeline.
  • Implemented strict safety protocols, conducted regular safety audits, and ensured all personnel were trained in hazard management.
  • Developed a detailed shutdown and turnaround schedule, employing parallel task execution and ensuring that critical activities were prioritized and completed on time.

Results & Achievements:

  • Despite weather challenges, the project was delivered within schedule. Project output increased by 12%, exceeding the initial ROO TAR plan and Achieved 238,080 Man-Hours without any Lost Time Incidents (LTI).
